When you need a receipt in Australia

In Australia you must give a receipt (proof of transaction) for any purchase over $75, and for purchases under $75 if the customer asks, within 7 days. It needs your business name, your ABN or ACN, what was supplied, the date and the price.

Receipt or invoice?

An invoice asks for payment. A receipt confirms that payment has been made. If you already sent an invoice, the receipt can refer to its number.
