What a tax invoice needs in Singapore

Only a GST-registered business can issue a tax invoice, and it must be issued within 30 days. It needs the words "tax invoice", an identifying number, the date, your name, address and GST registration number, your customer's name and address, a description, amounts excluding GST, the GST rate and amount, and the total including GST. Up to $1,000 including GST you may issue a simplified tax invoice instead.

When can I issue a simplified tax invoice?

When the total including GST is $1,000 or less. It must still show your GST registration number and state "Price payable includes GST".

How long do I keep records?

Five years, according to IRAS.

What is InvoiceNow?

IRAS is phasing in a requirement to send invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow: from 1 November 2025 for newly incorporated companies that register for GST voluntarily, from 1 April 2026 for all new voluntary registrants, and from April 2028 to April 2031 for other businesses, in phases.
